GENERAL INFORMATION
If you’d like a guided tour of the beautiful Tweed Valley or Gold
Coast & Hinterland you can choose to take one of our in-house full or
half day tours. Owen is fully accredited and, if you don’t like those
annoying crowds, he can take you where the majority of other tours
don’t go (See ‘In-House 4WD Tours’ below for further details).
Agua Tranquila is in the centre of Australia’s premier holiday
destination and is less than 10 minutes from Coolangatta (Gold Coast)
Airport. Situated on the Tweed River - between the Gold Coast and
Byron Bay - it is perfectly positioned to provide an excellent base
for exploring this unique area.
Just a few moments away are some of the most pristine beaches on our
east coast. Imposing rocky headlands, soft white sand, and sparkling
clear water combine to form an unforgettable vista. Taking full
advantage of their absolute beachfront locations are the numerous Surf
Lifesaving Clubs. Surf Lifesaving is a long-term Aussie tradition and
all clubs offer a warm welcome to visitors to enjoy a quiet drink or a
hearty meal while relaxing and enjoying the views.
If fine dining is more your style - this is the place! A whole array
of restaurants is just minutes away - Indian, Asian, Mexican,
Mediterranean, Seafood, and much much more. Alternatively, dine at our
home and choose from our delicious menus (see ‘Dining’ Page).
Social clubs are an integral part of the Australian way of life, and
no less than ten are within easy reach. These clubs offer a wide
variety of sporting and gaming facilities, as well as in-house
restaurants ranging from bistro-style dining to silver service. Their
lounges regularly provide free entertainment and their showrooms play
host to world-class entertainers from around the globe.
An easy 30 minutes north puts you in Surfers Paradise, with its famous
beach, cosmopolitan shopping and bustling nightlife it attracts
millions of domestic and international visitors each year. You can
spend the day shopping or lazing on the sand - or, if an adrenaline
rush is what you need, there are four major theme parks located within
15 minutes of Surfers - Dreamworld - Sea World - Movie World and Wet
’n Wild.
At Broadbeach (just south of ‘Surfers’) is the Gold Coast Convention
Centre and Jupiter’s Casino, featuring world class acts and Las Vegas
style shows. Jupiter’s is “the” meeting place on the Coast, where you
can try your luck on the tables, watch free live entertainment, or
enjoy an exquisite meal.
If you’d like to catch up with some of Australia’s lovely (and some
not so lovely) native animals, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary & Fleays
Wildlife Park are only a short drive away.
A leisurely drive south uncovers Byron Bay, with its host of
alternative shopping, restaurants, pubs and cafes. As well as being
mainland Australia’s most easterly point, Cape Byron boasts excellent
surf beaches, dolphin-spotting and seasonal whale watching.
For nature lovers, a pleasant drive inland will leave you spellbound
at the magnificence of Mount Warning. Ringed by world heritage listed
sub-tropical rainforests and dotted with quaint villages, this area -
the remnant of the world’s largest extinct shield volcano - is a
magnet for photographers, casual bushwalkers and serious campers
alike. No less than seven national parks and numerous reserves provide
you with the opportunity to leave progress behind and get back to
nature. The Border Ranges National Park, for example, is home to the
largest variety of birds and mammals anywhere in Australia and also
contains the largest unlogged sub-tropical rainforest in New South
Wales.
We will be happy to ‘direct’ you towards points of interest - or we
can ‘take’ you on one of our in-house guided tours.
IN-HOUSE 4WD GUIDED TOURS
4WD Rainforest Tours (Full or Half day) – Suited to all levels of
fitness

Leave the well-worn ‘tourist trails’ behind .. enjoy the natural
beauty of the Tweed Valley and its surrounding ranges. The Tweed
valley area contains no less than seven national parks – many of which
have heritage listings.
We have a variety of standard tours to the Border Ranges or Nightcap
area but, unlike most of the larger tour companies, we have the
flexibility to design a tour to suit individual requirements.
Example : “Full Day Trip”
After crossing the valley floor we make the steep climb to the Border
Ranges National Park, where the views seem to go on forever. On three
sides the rainforest-shrouded mountains, cliffs and plunging
waterfalls form an impenetrable barrier – whilst, eastward, the view
extends past Mt Warning (Wollumbin) to the coastline 40 kms away.
Enjoy a morning cuppa amongst the sights and sounds of the Australian
bush.
Take a leisurely walk beside a bubbling creek through our lush
rainforests - stroll amongst ancient sub-tropical giants, such as
magnificent Red Cedars and Antarctic Beech trees (some estimated to be
around 3,000 years old).
Enjoy a delicious Aussie barbeque (five-star style!!) before heading
back past sleepy little villages nestled under the sheer northern rim
of this truly unique landform.
CAMPING/EXTENDED TRIPS
If you want just one or two nights in the bush, or a whole ‘outback’
adventure, we can look after you. For the extended trips you can
choose between roughing it in a tent, the comfort of a camper trailer,
staying in local motels and pubs or a combination of them all.
